What to See if You Have Extra Time

If you have time to explore the city, the historic center offers several beautiful landmarks within a short walking distance.

Piața Unirii (Union Square) is one of the most elegant squares in Romania, surrounded by colorful baroque buildings and outdoor cafés.

Piața Libertății (Liberty Square) sits between the old fortress streets and hosts a number of cultural events and terraces.

Piața Victoriei (Victory Square) is the city’s main landmark, home to the Opera House and the Metropolitan Cathedral. It was also the central location of the 1989 Romanian Revolution.

A walk along the Bega River promenade is another pleasant way to experience the city, especially in the evening.
